Job Summary:
The Project Officers will provide oversight at the district level, facilitating market-driven linkages between youth, input/output dealers, Milk Collection Centers (MCCs), and other value chain actors. They will help establish business relationships, facilitate deals, and support the growth of business enterprises for young people within the dairy value chain. The role includes facilitating access to financial services, supporting work opportunities, and mentoring small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to access Business Development Services (BDS) providers under the YiDaMS project.
Duty Station: Bushenyi, Mitooma, Rubirizi, and Sheema
Reports to: Project Manager
Age Limit: 23-35 years
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the growth of business enterprises for youth in the dairy value chain within the assigned district under the YiDaMS project.
- Organize graduation ceremonies for youth completing apprenticeships and those certified by the Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT).
- Facilitate smooth apprenticeship and internship placements.
- Follow up and track youth under apprenticeship and link them to employment opportunities.
- Build the capacity of field staff in enterprise development, business incubation, and management.
- Support the establishment, expansion, and management of business hub incubation centers.
- Strengthen existing Milk Collection Centers (MCCs) and establish new ones to promote milk aggregation and marketing.
- Mentor youth in developing better business and marketing plans.
- Mobilize youth to participate in trade shows and exhibitions for networking and learning from other businesses.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Business Administration, Agribusiness, Micro-finance, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or Project Planning and Management. Proficiency in computer applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, along with the ability to ride a motorcycle, is desired.
- Experience: At least 1 year of field and community development work experience, focusing on business/enterprise development and financial accessibility.
