Job Overview:
Save the Children International is seeking a passionate and experienced Gender Coordinator to oversee the planning, implementation, and monitoring of gender-sensitive projects. The coordinator will manage all project aspects, including financial management, partner coordination, and staff capacity building, while ensuring compliance with donor regulations.
The URRI project focuses on enhancing climate resilience for women, men, and youth in refugee and host communities, promoting gender equality, and driving inclusive and sustainable development.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Assistance & Capacity Building
- Lead gender analysis to identify needs and opportunities within target districts.
- Implement regional gender strategies to promote gender equality.
- Ensure equitable participation of all gender groups in project activities.
- Collaborate with technical teams to ensure gender integration in all project aspects.
- Train and mentor staff and partners on gender equality, GBV guidelines, and inclusion approaches.
- Build synergies with the SAY project on GBV and SRH.
Representation & Advocacy
- Participate in relevant regional coordination platforms to integrate gender equality issues.
- Advocate for gender-sensitive practices with local partners, district authorities, and stakeholders.
- Support communications and advocacy efforts on gender equality and GBV.
Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, Learning (MEAL)
- Collaborate with MEAL and technical advisors to integrate gender-specific indicators.
- Monitor gender considerations in project activities and collect data for analysis.
- Document and share best practices on gender equality approaches.
Partnerships
- Establish linkages with district authorities and civil society partners.
- Support capacity building plans for partners in gender equality.
- Document and share best practices and unique experiences.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience with international NGOs.
- Experience working in consortiums and representing organizations in external forums.
- Technical expertise in project design, implementation, and evaluation.
- Understanding of gender issues and experience working with government authorities.
- Proven skills in leadership, program planning, and staff supervision.
- Experience promoting children’s rights and gender in program design and evaluation.
- Strong communication skills and fluency in English.
- Experience in capacity building approaches, including mentoring and training.
