UETCL is seeking a Manager Grid Planning to oversee national power transmission grid planning, ensuring alignment with international best practices within a commercial environment. This role is pivotal in developing short-, medium-, and long-term plans for grid reinforcements and extensions.
Key Result Areas:
- Prepare comprehensive grid development plans for power evacuation, grid reinforcements, and regional interconnections.
- Monitor the network’s capacity to handle load growth and conduct power system studies to anticipate network behavior.
- Conduct and review feasibility studies, Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA), Resettlement Action Plans (RAP), technical specifications, and project financial viability for proposed projects.
- Evaluate grid infrastructure, transmission line routes, substation sites, and prepare related strip maps.
- Maintain an updated GIS platform for current and future grid infrastructure.
- Issue and maintain drawings for substations and transmission lines and ensure updated as-built drawings.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders for integrated planning and secure financing for projects.
- Prepare and manage the section’s budget.
Person Specifications, Experience, and Competencies:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent is an advantage.
- Training: Specialized training in Electrical Engineering or project management.
- Experience:
- 10-15 years’ experience in Power Systems Planning, Development, or Operations.
- At least 5 years of experience in a senior role.
- Certifications:
- Registered or eligible for registration with the ERB.
- Experience in financial modeling and investment proposal writing is an advantage.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in Power System Planning Software tools like PSSE, Digsilent, AutoCAD, Load Forecasting tools, and others.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical and communication abilities.
- Proven leadership experience and strategic management skills.
- Highly motivated to achieve individual and team goals.
