Alight Uganda is recruiting Finance and Administration Officers for its program in Uganda. If you join the team, you will work with a group committed to co-designing innovative solutions and creating value for displaced communities across the globe.

Key Responsibilities:

Finance:

  • Verify payments and PRFs for fund, donor, and account coding, ensuring budget availability, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Manage petty cash, including preparing cash vouchers for small payments (up to 350,000 UGX) and replenishing cash funds as needed.
  • Record all payments and receipts into spreadsheets, verify them against hard copies, and send them to the Kampala office for processing.
  • Oversee day-to-day finance operations at the field site.
  • Implement finance policies and ensure compliance with Alight and donor procedures.
  • Prepare expenditure worksheets and submit hard copies to the Country Finance Coordinator for replenishment.
  • Maintain finance records in an organized manner and support internal and external audits.
  • Continuously improve the financial management system and internal controls.

Administration:

  • Maintain an updated leave register for the field office and provide staff with regular leave updates.
  • Prepare monthly leave reports and submit them to the Senior HR Officer.
  • Review and register staff timesheets at the end of each month before submitting them to the Kampala office.
  • Assist in recruiting Grade A positions and incentive workers at the field level, including posting ads, shortlisting candidates, scheduling interviews, and supporting onboarding.
  • Assist with the clearance process for exiting staff.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience as an accountant in a busy organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask under tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal skills.
  • High level of integrity and good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.

Work Hours: 8 hours per day.
Experience Required: 3 years (36 months).
Level of Education: Bachelor’s Degree.
