Job Overview:

The Senior Coordinator Mental Health & Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) will set up and ensure the quality implementation of MHPSS projects across War Child operations in both refugee and host districts. The role involves staff training, partner collaboration, monitoring, and coaching.

Start Date: As Soon As Possible
Salary Range: UGX 7,775,723 – 10,641,614
Reports to: Programme Development & Implementation Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure quality assurance for MHPSS interventions in the field.
  • Support the development of new project proposals.
  • Draft internal and external program reports.
  • Coordinate with agencies focusing on MHPSS programming.
  • Strengthen the MHPSS working group in Uganda.
  • Contribute to the creation of a localization hub for MHPSS methodologies.
  • Participate in the development of tools for MHPSS.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: Postgraduate Diploma/Degree in Psychology, Social Sciences, Social Development, or a related field. A Master’s Degree is preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 5 years of experience working with NGOs in developing countries/conflict areas, preferably with children.
    • Minimum 4 years in MHPSS programming and staff capacity building.
    • Experience in monitoring and evaluation of projects.
    • Experience working in the education sector in Uganda is desirable.
    • Experience implementing interventions at Levels 3 & 4 of the MHPSS pyramid is desirable.
  • Skills: Specialist knowledge of psychosocial support, child protection, and M&E tools.
