Job Summary:
Acts Uganda is hiring a Business Development Officer to work collaboratively with Acts Uganda and Acts Canada. The role focuses on raising funds through grant writing, fundraising proposals, and building partnerships. The position supports Acts’ mission to provide clean water, sanitation, and hygiene solutions in Uganda.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and pursue funding opportunities from local and international donors, foundations, and government agencies.
- Conduct research to understand donor markets and identify grant opportunities.
- Write three compelling grant proposals per month.
- Build and manage a pipeline of prospects, moving opportunities through the pipeline.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with prospective donors and partners.
- Develop grant proposals and concept notes aligned with Acts’ mission.
- Represent Acts at conferences, events, and donor meetings.
- Collaborate with Acts Canada on joint fundraising efforts.
- Track and report business development activities using key metrics.
Required Skills:
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to identify business opportunities and manage limited resources.
- Executive Presence: Professional representation of Acts in high-level meetings.
- Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal skills for maintaining donor, partner, and stakeholder relationships.
- Writing & Marketing: Flawless grant writing skills and proficiency with modern web applications for promoting Acts’ impact.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, international development, or a related field (WASH course is a plus).
- 3+ years of experience in business development, fundraising, grant writing, or proposal management.
- Proven success in securing funding from international donors, foundations, and government agencies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong networking and relationship-building abilities.
- Proficiency in donor research, proposal development, and project design.
- Knowledge of international development and fundraising best practices.
- Fluency in English with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities with minimal supervision.

Role Structure:
