Job Summary:
The Project Manager will oversee the Best Start Together Project, ensuring its efficient and effective management. The role includes responsibility for quarterly and annual planning, budgeting, reporting, and managing field staff, all while maintaining high programmatic standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate the day-to-day planning and implementation of project activities according to project documents and frameworks.
- Ensure project adherence to best practices in inclusive education and early childhood development.
- Monitor project progress, ensuring goals are met using the MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning) system.
- Report regularly to the Programme Manager and Country Representative, consolidating project reports.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government bodies, NGOs, and community leaders.
- Lead, support, and develop the project team to achieve project goals and maintain a positive work environment.
- Ensure compliance with legal, donor, and grant requirements, including financial and progress reporting.
Candidate Profile:
- Proven ability to lead and empower high-performing teams.
- Strong experience managing large education projects, preferably within refugee settlement contexts.
- Expertise in working with bi-lateral and multi-lateral funded projects.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in fast-paced, emergency situations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with proficiency in written and spoken English. Familiarity with the local language of the Rwenzori region is an asset.
- INGO experience in sub-Saharan Africa is preferred, particularly with a focus on safeguarding, inclusive education, and working with vulnerable groups.
- Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in line with Chance for Childhood’s values.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of five years of experience in project management, particularly in education, special needs education, or early childhood development.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Experience working with civil society organizations, government institutions, and local authorities.
- Strong background in managing inclusive education projects, particularly in refugee camps.
- Experience in sub-grants management and early childhood development is a strong asset.
Work Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week)
Experience: Minimum 60 months
