Job Summary

The Association of Refugees with Disabilities (ARD), in partnership with Humanity & Inclusion, is offering an opportunity for 20 volunteers to serve as Community-Based Facilitators in various zones within Nakivale Refugee Settlement. These zones include Juru, Kibengo, Basecamp, Rubondo, Ruhoko, Kabazana, Kikyaza, Kashojwa, Somalia, and New Congo.

The Community-Based Facilitator will play a key role in providing critical support to refugees with disabilities by improving communication and accessibility between refugees and service providers. You will engage in advocacy, coordination, and the dissemination of essential information, making a direct impact on the lives of vulnerable individuals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a bridge between refugees and service providers, ensuring effective communication and advocacy for refugees with disabilities.
  • Facilitate the distribution of information to the community on various services.
  • Work closely with local leaders, stakeholders, and other community-based facilitators to address the needs of people with disabilities.
  • Assist in organizing community meetings, events, and outreach programs to enhance service delivery and community development.

Qualifications and Requirements

To be considered for this volunteer opportunity, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Recommendation letters: One from the zone leader where you reside, and one from a current or former employer within the refugee settlement. Alternatively, clearance from OPM is accepted.
  • Documentation: Submit a copy of your Attestation card, Refugee card, or National ID, along with a passport-sized photo.
  • Bank Account: You must have a registered bank account (SACCO accounts are not accepted), along with TIN and NSSF numbers.
  • Language Skills: Fluent in English, and able to speak and translate at least two local dialects spoken in Nakivale. Proficiency in Kiswahili or Somali is mandatory.
