Position Summary:
The Shift Supervisor will oversee and coordinate plant operations during their shift, ensuring efficient production, maintaining quality standards, and managing the team. This role involves technical guidance, monitoring inventory, and ensuring adherence to health and safety guidelines.
Key Result Areas:
- Work Allocation and Monitoring: Allocate tasks to subordinates and monitor their performance.
- Technical Support: Provide guidance and support in the plant.
- Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels and prepare requisitions for raw materials and spare parts.
- Reporting: Prepare daily production reports.
- Maintenance: Oversee and ensure timely preventive maintenance to reduce downtime.
- Production Efficiency: Ensure plant utilization meets quality standards from production planning.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor worker performance and production processes.
- Data Entry: Enter production data into the Enterprise Resource Application database.
- Housekeeping: Oversee cleanliness in the production area.
- Consultation: Work with the Production Officer/Manager to implement efficient production methods.
- Quality Control: Ensure products meet quality standards and implement quality-control programs.
- Equipment Management: Select and maintain equipment; work with managers to meet company policies and goals.
- Health and Safety: Implement safety guidelines for personnel, materials, and machinery.
- Training: Identify training needs for staff.
- Communication: Communicate business issues to direct reports and line managers.
Educational Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree/Diploma: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Food Science and Technology, Chemistry, or related discipline.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a relevant field.
Skills & Professional Attributes Required:
- Good communication skills, including reading skills.
- Aptitude for math and physical strength.
- Ability to work at heights and keep up with changing technology.
- Strategic planning, team building, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Planning skills and conformance to environmental management system requirements.
