Job Description

PostBank Uganda is seeking Applications Support Officers to join our Business Technology team. The role involves the proactive identification, isolation, and resolution of issues in the business applications space, ensuring platform uptime and service availability. The Applications Support Officers will handle customer trouble tickets escalated from front-end teams, perform efficient operations, and provide maintenance of business applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor IT applications uptime and performance using monitoring tools, alerts, and dashboards.
  • Analyze and resolve application-related issues escalated from the Level 2 support team and maintain proper documentation.
  • Coordinate with application vendors to resolve product bugs or enhancement requirements.
  • Own all application-related calls, problems, and incidents in the IT service desk system, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Schedule, plan, and execute the installation and testing of new products, upgrades, patches, or improvements.
  • Gather system enhancement requests and reporting requirements from users and work with IT teams to develop technical specifications.
  • Perform proactive system capacity monitoring, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and escalate issues to vendors when necessary.

Qualifications, Experience, and Competencies Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or related fields.
  • Certification in an IT-related course is an added advantage.
  • Practical training in IT-related short courses.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the IT department of a busy organization.
  • Advanced knowledge of Unix/Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Proficiency in SQL, DBMs (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL), and scripting.
  • Programming experience in Python, C#, PHP, JS, Java, etc.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve user problems effectively.
