When anyone is called for a job interview, there is always a rush of adrenaline that spikes the body with anxiety and excitement. However before you for any interview, you must make sure you are really prepared, smart, composed, carrying a note book, and a pen and most of all carrying yourself with dignity.
Let me share with you some interview questions that I have Interfaced over the years, and how to answer them;
Tell us About Yourself.
This looks like an easy question but it is not. The way you answer this question will give the Interviewer an insight of whether you are the right fit or not. Sadly, in most Interviews, this is always the first question they ask.
Here, the interviewer is asking you to give a brief bio about yourself;
- Mention your name.
- The university you attended.
- Your qualifications as in the CV shared.
- Your soft skills.
- Why you think they should hire you.
What are Your Qualifications?
Here, don’t beat around the bush, go straight to the point and mention the qualifications that you have, and are suited for the job as per the CV you shared. Don’t mention qualifications that are not in the CV regardless of the fact that they are still yous.
What Experience do You Have?
Here, mention where you have worked, for how long, and what you accomplished at the job. It’s important to be precise and straight to the point and this has to be from the last job you had going down. If you feel constrained by time, it’s okay to choose out the best places of work that you think will win you the job. Please don’t over exaggerate, it doesn’t help.
Have you had an Conflicts in Your Previous Work Place and how did you resolve them?
If you haven’t had any, well and good.
If you had an conflicts, start by explaining the situation, what your role in the situation was or what task it was, then explain the action you took to resolve the situation. For many employers, this is a very important question and how you answer it really shows them whether you are a leader, a team leader or none – a solo human.
What Skills do you Posses?
Here, it’s important to always start with your soft skills which include; Communication, Team Work, Problem-Solving, Time Management, Creativity, Leadership, among others.
Now go for the hard skills, usually these are the ones that can be taught like; Data Analysis, Microsoft Applications/Tools, Graphic Design, animation, among others.
What is Your Salary Expectation?
I really hope you had already made some research into the job/career you are going in because this is where that applies more. Many people rush in with a number that is either above the standard for job or below the standard and this shows an interviewer that you didn’t do any research.
However, the best way to tackle this question is by asking the interviewer what the salary range for the job is. This is because you don’t want to oversell and risk not getting hired and neither do you want to undersell and get peanuts. Asking for a range gives you better bargaining power.
Do you Have any Questions for us?
Well may career development coaches advise y’all to ask – When can I start? Hilarious! Here you are meant to ask about the other benefits the company offers; do they offer lunch, overtime allowance, per-diem, medical insurance, what does there leave look like? Are they inclusive in the workplace?
Those are the questions they are looking to answer
Well there you have it, I am not saying that this should be the standard of answering as many career coaches have different other ways, however these could sure get you the job, just saying.
