About St. Joseph’s Hospital Kitgum: St. Joseph’s Hospital Kitgum is a private, non-profit, community hospital located in the Northern Region of Uganda. It serves the town of Kitgum and the surrounding areas of Kitgum District, Lamwo District, and parts of the Republic of South Sudan.

Job Summary: St. Joseph’s Hospital Kitgum is seeking a dedicated Human Resource Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will work under minimal supervision and contribute to the effective management of human resources within the hospital.

Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate, process, review, and monitor employment contracts.
  • Monitor and ensure proper implementation of the performance management and review process.
  • Maintain an up-to-date HR Policy and Procedures manual and ensure adherence by staff.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to all staff regarding human resource policies and practices.
  • Participate in assessing health staff performance in the hospital and completion of their Annual Confidential Reports.
  • Develop and review Human Resource Management “Best Practices” periodically.
  • Coordinate training of staff in line with the hospital staff development policy.
  • Coordinate job analysis and evaluation findings and recommend changes in line with the work procedures, methods, and systems in accordance with HR policies.
  • Initiate staff discipline and grievance handling mechanisms and procedures in line with the St. Joseph’s Hospital Kitgum HR Manual and the Employment Act.
  • Undertake other tasks within the scope of the role as directed by management from time to time.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Diploma in Human Resource Management or its equivalent from a recognized University/Institution.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Further related training(s) will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of Luo language is desirable.
