Call for Enumerators to conduct tree nursery assessment survey in project sites across the country.

About Organization:
World Agroforestry is an international institute headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, and founded in 1978 as “International Council for Research in Agroforestry”. The center specializes in the sustainable management, protection, and regulation of tropical rainforest and natural reserves.

About Restore Africa Uganda Project:
Restore Africa is a five-year restoration, livelihoods, and carbon programming project funded by Climate Asset Management (CAM) through the Global Evergreening Alliance (GEA). Uganda is one of the three African countries implementing the Restore Africa Project in the first lot. The project in Uganda is led by the Catholic Relief Service (CRS), working in collaboration with several partners including World Agroforestry (ICRAF).

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attend enumerator training to gain a thorough overview of the survey objectives and tools.
  • Conduct tree nursery assessments using the KoboCollect tool on Android devices.
  • Ensure data collected adheres to research ethics and quality standards.
  • Cover assigned nurseries comprehensively within designated enumeration areas.
  • Report feedback and challenges to Research Assistants promptly.
  • Upload collected data onto the KoboCollect platform.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Degree, Diploma, or certificate in forestry, natural resource management, or related field.
  • Knowledge of diverse tree species in Uganda’s central, southwestern, Karamoja, and Mt. Elgon regions.
  • Experience in conducting field surveys using smartphone-based tools and GPS.
  • Familiarity with local landscapes and cultures is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in local languages.
  • Own a smartphone with adequate battery life and storage capacity.
  • Understanding of research ethics, confidentiality, and privacy.
  • Available for the entire engagement period (up to 10 days depending on district needs).

Terms of Engagement:
Successful candidates will undergo one day of training and tool pretesting, followed by three days of data collection. Payment will be on a daily basis upon delivering quality data, with possible transport reimbursement based on need. Timesheets will record actual workdays.
