Job Description: A catering assistant is a culinary team player who supports chefs in food preparation, ensures spotless kitchens, and assists with event setup and breakdown for a seamless catering experience.
Reports to: Catering Manager
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Developing rotational in-flight catering menus
- Preparation of daily flight catering orders and submitting them to the caterer
- Supervising service providers to ensure timely flight loading and offloading
- Budgeting and controlling all logistics of the catering section
- Ensuring timely loading and offloading of all aircraft catering items
- Delivering the catering items and handing them over to flight pursers
- Supervising the loading and offloading of catering materials from the aircraft
- Participating in periodic food presentations with the caterer and designing proper in-flight catering menus
- Coordinating and organizing meal uplifts from outstations
- Monitoring daily in-flight consumption reports
- Receiving and verifying invoices from service providers before submission to finance
- Coordinating with all other ground operations staff to ensure timely flight operations
- Attending to any other duties as may be assigned by the line superiors
Education and Experience:
- Diploma or equivalent in a business-related profession from a reputable institute OR a minimum of an “A” level certificate with profound experience in aviation catering
- A diploma or certificate in catering may be an added advantage
- Uninterrupted work experience of not less than 3 years in the in-flight catering/culinary industry
Skills:
- Good team player with fast decision-making skills
- Driving skills in lightweight vehicles; possession of an Airside Driving Permit (ADP) is an added advantage
- Computer literate
- Familiarity with food safety and HACCP
