About UNOC:

The Uganda National Oil Company Limited (UNOC) was established under the Petroleum (Exploration, Development, and Production) Act and the Petroleum (Refining, Conversion, Transmission, and Midstream Storage) Act, both of 2013, and incorporated under the Companies’ Act, 2012. It is a limited liability company wholly owned by the Government of Uganda. UNOC handles the State’s commercial interests in the Oil and Gas industry and ensures that the resource is exploited sustainably.

6G Coded Welding Scholarship Program:

Objective:
To develop nationwide expertise in Uganda’s Oil and Gas sector to enable national participation by providing fully funded 6G Coded Welding training and certification in accordance with the ASME IX standard.

Number of Scholarships: 20 Full-Time Positions
Institute of Training: Uganda Petroleum Institute Kigumba (UPIK)
Duration of Training: 8 Weeks

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Nationality: Ugandans 18 years and above.
  2. Qualifications: Holders of a National Vocational and Technical Crafts certificate in Welding and Metal Fabrication and a 3G coded welding certificate certified by recognized entities.
  3. Skills: Basic English reading and writing skills, good mathematical and physics skills (basic knowledge in electricity).
  4. Health: Good eyesight and be physically and medically fit.
  5. Preference: Given to applicants previously trained in welding with proof of 3G Coded Welding Certification.
  6. Commitment: Participants must commit to staying at the training center for the course duration.
  7. Gender: Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
  8. Proof of Citizenship: Applicant should present evidence that he/she is a Ugandan.
