About Company
Uganda National Meteorological Authority (UNMA) is a Statutory Body established by the UNMA Act, 2012. The Act empowers UNMA to provide for the control and development of technically sound and scientific meteorological services in Uganda. The Authority seeks to recruit competent and well-motivated Ugandans to fill the vacant positions of Bursar and Driver at the Uganda National Meteorological Training School (NMTS) Entebbe. The school is mandated to train all medium meteorological personnel in Uganda, delivering quality services to fields such as Meteorology, Aviation/Defense, Agriculture, Forestry/Agroforestry, Environment, and Education.
The positions are contractual and renewable subject to satisfactory performance and the Rationalization of Government Agencies.
Job Description
Bursar Responsibilities:
- Oversee financial management at the NMTS.
- Prepare financial statements and reports.
- Manage budgets and ensure proper accounting records.
- Handle financial transactions and cash management.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
Driver Responsibilities:
- Safely transport staff and equipment to various destinations.
- Maintain the vehicle in good working condition.
- Ensure timely servicing and maintenance of the vehicle.
- Adhere to traffic rules and regulations.
- Assist with logistical support as required.
Qualifications
Bursar:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional accounting qualifications (e.g., CPA, ACCA) are an added advantage.
- At least three years of relevant working experience.
- Strong knowledge of financial management and accounting principles.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Driver:
- Valid driving license for the relevant vehicle class.
- At least five years of driving experience.
- Clean driving record.
- Basic mechanical skills and knowledge of vehicle maintenance.
- Good communication skills and a professional demeanor.
