Purpose of the Position:
The Project Officer – DRIVE, supported by the Project Manager, is responsible for day-to-day planning and implementation of ZOA activities under the DRIVE project in Terego and Madi Okollo districts, West Nile. The PO will mobilize and train farmers in the Participatory Integrated Plan (PIP) approach, support and supervise the scale-up of PIP to other farmers, and facilitate farmers’ linkages to viable markets. Additionally, the PO will work closely with other ZOA livelihoods project teams to ensure integrated support to project participants.
Responsibilities:
- Implement project activities to achieve optimal outputs and outcomes in line with ZOA/donor procedures and targets.
- Ensure consistency with project proposal, logframes, quality standards, and country policies.
- Facilitate capacity building events and trainings on PIP methodology, technical skills, and ICT-based extension programs.
- Supervise and oversee experimental plots serving as learning sites for farmers.
- Facilitate formation of farmer groups, capacity building, and market linkages.
- Provide technical backstopping to PIP farmers and facilitate market linkages.
- Reporting, knowledge management, and MEAL activities.
- Representation and coordination with stakeholders.
- Procurement, finance, and accountability measures.
Requirements:
Knowledge & Experience:
- Degree in agricultural science or related fields.
- Specialized training in Participatory Integrated Plan (PIP) or Farmer Field School (FFS) methodology preferred.
- At least 2 years of successful experience in a similar position.
- Working experience in a humanitarian setting advantageous.
- Understanding of local context, culture, and languages.
- Excellent command of English, both spoken and written.
Skills:
- Good facilitation skills, especially working with illiterate farmers.
- Strong communication and accurate writing skills.
- Innovative, creative, and self-motivated.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word.
- Ability to ride a motorcycle with a valid driving/riding license class “A”.
- Language skills in relevant local languages advantageous.

Salary and Terms of Employment:
- Location: ZOA office in Rhino Camp refugee settlement (Yoroo Base Camp) with regular travel to communities.
- Full-time position (40 hrs/week) with some flexibility on working hours.
- Salary Grade 3a, starting at UGX 1,800,000 gross/month, based on experience and qualifications.
