Overview

The Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) Ltd, established under the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production) Act and the Petroleum (Refining, Conversion, Transmission and Midstream Storage) Act of 2013, is a limited liability company wholly owned by the Government of Uganda. UNOC’s primary function is to manage the State’s commercial interests in the Oil and Gas industry sustainably.

In collaboration with the Uganda Petroleum Institute Kigumba (UPIK), UNOC is offering fully funded 6G Coded Welding training and certification in accordance with the ASME IX standard. This initiative aims to develop nation-wide expertise in Uganda’s Oil and Gas Sector to enhance national participation.

Scholarship Details

  • Number of Scholarships: 20
  • Nature of Training: Full Time
  • Institute of Training: Uganda Petroleum Institute Kigumba (UPIK)
  • Duration of Training: 8 Weeks

Eligibility Criteria – IVQ (Welding, Fabrication & Pipework)

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Ugandan citizens aged 18 years and above from all districts.
  2. Hold a National Vocational and Technical Crafts certificate in Welding and Metal Fabrication and a 3G coded welding certificate certified by recognized entities.
  3. Possess basic English reading and writing skills, and good mathematical and physics skills (including basic knowledge of electricity).
  4. Have good eyesight and be physically and medically fit.
  5. Preference given to applicants with prior training in welding who can provide proof of 3G Coded Welding Certification.
  6. Must commit to staying at the training center for the entire duration of the course.
  7. Female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
  8. Must provide evidence of Ugandan citizenship.
