The Department of Strategic Communications, Digital, and New Business collaborates with all departments and projects within the Uganda Country Office and PSI’s global hubs to advise, plan, and coordinate communication and knowledge-sharing activities.
Purpose:
The Knowledge Management and Multimedia Officer will be responsible for delivering high-quality knowledge and multimedia content for the Uganda Country Office and contributing to the overall output of the organization. This position will report to the Head of the Department.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Knowledge Management (40%)
Information Management:
- Develop and maintain a centralized knowledge repository for program-related documents, reports, audio-visual content, and resources.
- Collaborate with program teams to organize and archive information in a user-friendly manner.
- Systematically capture, document, and share valuable insights and lessons learned.
- Work with the Strategic Information and Learning (SIL) team to monitor and evaluate knowledge management initiatives and make improvement recommendations.
- Act as a focal point for knowledge management and multimedia content inquiries.
Data Visualization:
- Create visually appealing infographics, charts, and dashboards to convey programmatic information.
- Present data in creative ways to enhance understanding and engagement.
Documentation:
- Assist in systematically capturing key achievements and lessons learned for knowledge building, sharing, new business development, and advocacy.
- Research, document, and generate knowledge materials for web-based and print formats.
- Write, edit, or rewrite articles, newsletters, and other communications/publicity materials.
Multimedia (60%)
Manage Multimedia Pre- and Post-Production:
- Produce multimedia content in various formats, including videos, photo galleries, photo essays, webcasts, podcasts, infographics, slide shows, and PowerPoints.
- Assist with the production of audio/video projects, including research, copyright acquisition, editing, and audio mixing.
- Take high-quality photographs and videos at high-level engagements and official meetings.
- Contribute to multimedia and promotional campaigns and support audio and visual needs for events, websites, and publications.
- Manage the online editorial calendar to ensure targeted, high-quality content for the website, social media platforms, and digital assets.
- Manage and maintain PSI’s social media and digital presence.
- Employ search engine optimization to improve PSI Uganda’s online presence and make recommendations on web writing and editing best practices.
- Manage the editorial process of PSI Uganda’s monthly/quarterly e-newsletter.
- Optimize, index, tag, caption, and upload photos, videos, and other multimedia content to the PSI Uganda databases.
- Ensure quality in all content products, aligning with PSI’s branding and engagement objectives.
Capacity Building:
- Participate in training sessions or workshops related to knowledge management, digital implementation, and multimedia production.
- Support the preparation of knowledge sharing events and strategies to promote a culture of learning among staff.
Generic Duties:
- Prepare audio-visual briefing materials for senior management, program leads, advocacy team, and communication specialists.
- Participate in organizing seminars, conferences, and meetings.
- Maintain lines of communication with representatives of the media, government, NGOs, communities, private sector, partners, and other groups to develop an understanding of information requirements.
- Provide general administrative support to communications activities as needed.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Digital Marketing, Digital Journalism, Public Health, Social Work, IT, International Relations, or another relevant field.
- 2-5 years of experience in a mid-size or large private sector or international development organization, with hands-on experience in multimedia, marketing, communications, media, external relations, and digital projects.
- Fluency in English. Knowledge of other Ugandan local languages is an asset.
- Strong grasp of social media management, web marketing, Google Analytics, and campaign development.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Good photography and photo archiving skills.
- Good video editing skills and knowledge of editing suites.
- Good graphic design and basic motion graphics skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to adapt messages to culturally diverse audiences.
- Analytical skills.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment with gender-sensitive and non-discriminatory behavior and attitudes.
- Dependability, flexibility, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
