About the Program: The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at Makerere University is offering scholarships for undergraduate and master’s academic programs. This partnership aims to provide inclusive university education and empower youth to become leaders in national and regional development.
Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at Makerere University, applicants must meet the following conditions:
- Qualify for admission to Makerere University’s main campus for undergraduate degree programs under the Private Sponsorship Scheme.
- Have completed Advanced level education (or its equivalent) in an African country.
- Face significant financial hardship.
- Demonstrate leadership potential and a record of community service.
- Not be holders of any other scholarship.
- Not have registered for or completed any other undergraduate degree program.
- Be aged 28 or younger at the time of applying for the scholarship, except for refugees and students with disabilities, who should not exceed 32 years of age.
- Refugee applicants must be recognized and registered refugees with proof attached to the application form.
Occupation of Parents or Guardian: Applicants must provide detailed information about their parents’ or guardian’s occupation. This information should include descriptions of businesses, positions held in employment, or any other economic activities.
Application Process: Interested candidates can apply using one of the following options:
- Apply directly online via https://apply.mcfsp.mak.ac.ug/forms/undergraduate-applications
- Download the PDF version of the application form, fill it in, and hand-deliver the hard copy to the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program offices at Plot 144, Pool Road, Makerere University.
- Send the completed application form and all other documents as a scanned attachment to makscholarsapplications@gmail.com.
Important Notes:
- The application form is free of charge, and no payments should be made at any stage of the selection process.
- Only short-listed candidates will be contacted for further selection engagements.
- The deadline for submission is Friday, 14th June 2024, at 5:00 pm EAT.
- Incomplete applications will be automatically disqualified.
- The program exercises merit principles and has zero tolerance for dishonesty or influence peddling.
- Any fraudulent activity related to the scholarship application process will be prosecuted.
- Only successful applicants will be notified, and decisions of the Program Steering Committee are final.
- Applicants who have not received notification by the end of August 2024 should consider their application unsuccessful.
