Job Opportunity: Finance and Admin Officer

Background: The Danish Institute for Human Rights (DIHR) is the national human rights institution in Denmark, extending its mandate to international engagements. DIHR is expanding its presence in Uganda through a pilot project conducted in consortium. We are seeking a full-time Finance and Admin Officer based in Kampala to support project activities in Uganda.
Main Tasks: As the Finance and Admin Officer, your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting the Copenhagen-based Project Manager with administrative, budgeting, and supervisory tasks.
- Ensuring financial accountability and budgetary supervision of project activities in Uganda, with support from Project Controllers in Copenhagen.
- Maintaining knowledge of donor financial guidelines and internal financial guidelines.
- Quality assurance of partner activity budgets and ensuring compliance with donor guidelines and internal eligibility criteria.
- Collecting, checking, and archiving documentation for project expenditure.
- Preparing and validating monthly financial reports for project activities in Uganda.
- Supporting the national Human Rights Adviser with project-related reporting.
- Facilitating cooperation with local partners to promote local ownership of the project.
- Assisting in establishing and maintaining a branch office for the Institute.
- Providing support in planning and organizing trainings, workshops, events, and staff missions.
Qualifications and Experience:
- BA or relevant degree in accounting, business management, or similar field.
- Minimum 8 years of professional experience in project economy or financial management, preferably with international organizations and/or donors.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with financial management systems.
- Fluency in English (spoken and written).
- Ugandan national.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a track record in developing partnerships.
- Organized, flexible, and able to work independently.
- Adherence to procedures and meeting deadlines.
Work Conditions: The Finance and Admin Officer will be based in Kampala, with occasional travel to local project areas.
Starting Date: As soon as possible, no later than June 15, 2024.
Contract Duration: 12 months, renewable based on performance and funding availability.
