Position: Risk and Compliance Manager

About AIRD:
The African Initiatives for Relief and Development (AIRD) is a non-political, non-religious, and non-profit NGO with Country Program Offices across Africa. AIRD provides operational support in disaster-affected and development-oriented areas, focusing on supply chain, logistics, construction, infrastructure, environment, livelihoods, and WASH.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and assess organizational controls, compliance procedures, and documentation timeliness.
- Design and implement systems, processes, and controls to enhance operational efficiency.
- Lead risk identification and mitigation efforts across country programs.
- Plan and perform internal audits, control reviews, fraud allegation reviews, and compliance assessments.
- Serve as liaison for external audit and regulatory agencies.
- Develop and facilitate relevant risk training sessions.
- Address specific training and development needs to fill compliance gaps.
- Analyze and evaluate audit results, prepare reports, and document proposed processes.
- Research emerging issues and trends in the industry.
Qualifications:
- University degree in Business studies, finance, accounting, economics, law, or IT.
- 5 years of experience in internal audit, risk and compliance, or internal control functions.
- Professional certifications in accounting or audit (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CIA, CFE).
- Proficiency in MS Office packages and information management systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and systems thinking skills.
- Ability to make sound judgments and ethical conduct.
- Willingness to travel up to 50%.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or relevant field.
- Experience working for an NGO in operational management.
- Knowledge of data analytics techniques and process performance improvement.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of French is a plus.
