The Finance Assistant will ensure the timely and accurate reporting of EGPAF financial and accounting information.
Job Description: No two days are alike at EGPAF, but what can you expect in this role?
- In liaison with program officers, support the District Health Officer and/or designated district health office staff in developing budgets and quarterly cash requests.
- Ensure swift disbursement of funds for program activities in alignment with district-approved work plans and budgets.
- Participate in monitoring the implementation of project-funded activities to ensure alignment with the agreed-upon implementation plan.
- Prepare quarterly activity financial reports for various districts.
- Prepare other regular financial reports, spreadsheets, and correspondence as required.
- Input accounting data into the accounting system accurately and efficiently.
- Plan, organize, and manage workload to contribute to the organization’s monthly financial reporting process in a timely and accurate manner.
- In liaison with the Finance & Administration Officer, track monthly advances to project staff and district teams.
- Provide financial support to team members and resolve finance-related queries.
- Carry out any other duties reasonably assigned by the Supervisor.
To Be Successful, You Will Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Accounting, Finance, Commerce, and at least CPA or ACCA level 2.
- At least 1 year of relevant experience in accounting in non-profit organizations with a proven track record in financial management and an understanding of accounting processes and procedures.
- Experience in an international donor environment, particularly managing US government funds and knowledge of USAID rules and regulations.
- Experience working with Local Government partners and knowledge of their operations.
- Strong accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to follow through.
- Highly organized with the ability to meet deadlines, troubleshoot, and problem-solve.
- Training in Computer and knowledge of accounting software systems (e.g., QuickBooks Pro).
- Ability to work under pressure, meet targets and deadlines, and willingness to travel to project districts.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a diverse social and cultural environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of local languages is an added advantage.
