Job Title: Collections Officer at Pearl Marina Estates Limited
Job Description: The Collections Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing practical plans to enhance cash flows, reduce arrears, and maintain a high level of customer retention. This role will focus on managing collections within our real estate portfolio in Uganda.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collect cash owed by sending arrears reminders and statements to homebuyers with missed payments.
- Agree on payment plans with homebuyers and introduce them to banks for funding packages.
- Follow up with homebuyers and banks to ensure completion of the payment process.
- Analyze and monitor all receivable balances, aiming for weekly reduction in outstanding balances.
- Prepare arrears cash collection targets and coordinate weekly collections & credit control meetings.
- Prepare arrears reports and maintain records of actions taken with constant follow up.
- Initiate collection calls to homebuyers in arrears and resolve payment issues.
- Update CRM system with collections received and units offered back to the market.
- Prepare weekly and monthly arrears reports highlighting potential and serious arrears.
- Manage legal process for debt recovery and review overdue customer accounts.
- Update procedures and policies to ensure timely payments and high customer retention.
- Comply with Data Protection laws regarding customer data.
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA- Uganda) or ACCA.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related fields.
- 3 years’ relevant experience in collections, credit control, or debt recovery.
- Demonstrable track record in a similar role within a bank or real estate firm.
- In-depth knowledge of legal procedures for debt recovery.
- Good working knowledge of general ledger, credit monitoring, and accounts receivable systems.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to execute quickly and understand real estate business.
- Ability to generate consistent results in a high-performance environment.
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to maintain positive relationships.
- Leadership capability.
