Job Description: As the Compliance, Data Protection, and Legal Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring regulatory compliance, data protection, and legal adherence within our organization. Your responsibilities will include:

Compliance Duties:

• Develop and implement a robust Compliance Management framework to ensure adherence to regulations.
• Provide high-quality compliance advice to various business functions on internal policies, laws, and regulations.
• Conduct in-depth analysis of regulatory changes and support business units in implementation.
• Carry out compliance monitoring and investigations as required.
• Prepare operational policies to assist in compliance with laws and regulations.
• Coordinate submission of regulatory returns and prepare compliance reports for management and the board.

Data Protection Duties:

• Establish and implement a comprehensive Data Protection framework and policies.
• Guide subsidiaries and departments on data privacy requirements and support them in compliance with the Data Protection Act.
• Maintain a register of all data processing activities and conduct data protection impact assessments.
• Provide training on data collection/processing and ensure compliance with data privacy laws.
• Collaborate with Information Security to maintain data security incident management plans.
• Serve as the point of contact between the company and regulatory authorities on data protection matters.

Legal & Company Secretarial Duties:

• Provide technical support to the Company Secretary, including organizing meetings and preparing reports.
• Draft correspondences, reports, agreements, and other legal documents.
• Represent the company in legal matters before courts of law.
• Carry out legal research and provide legal opinions as required.
• Sensitize staff on policies, regulations, and compliance standards.

Position Specifications:

• University Degree in Law.
• Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in compliance/audit within the financial services industry, preferably insurance or banking.
• Strong team player with adaptability to fast-paced environments.
• Excellent time management, communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ethics.
