Job Summary:
On behalf of our client, we are looking for a highly motivated, skilled, reliable, efficient Quantity Surveyor to join our client. In this position, you will be responsible for maximizing project margin, adding value to the construction process by practical involvement in procurement, cost management and reporting. To originate best value from suppliers and sub-contractors. Carry out monthly financial reviews on projects and estimate final output values for cost, sales and margin. Maximize value of monthly applications and measurement and submission of contract variations. Timely submission and negotiation of final accounts to the client or subcontractors.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Assist in establishing a client’s requirements and undertake feasibility studies to ensure their proposals will work
- Prepare and analyse project costings for tenders, such as materials, quantities, labour and time
- Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities with the architect and/or the client
- Negotiate contracts and work schedules
- Perform risk, value management and cost control during construction
- Undertake cost analysis for repair and maintenance project work
- Advise on a procurement strategy
- Identify, analyse and develop responses to commercial risks
- Provide advice on contractual claims and disputes
- Analyse outcomes and write detailed progress reports
- Value completed work, oversee bills and arrange payments
- Maintain awareness of the different building contracts in current use
- Forecasting design and construction timeline.
- Ensure work is carried out using safe working practices and is completed in accordance with codes, standards, drawings and specifications.
- Analyzing survey reports, long-range plans, maps and other data to design new projects.
- Checking the safety measures.
- Check the quality of all materials received on site
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors’ degree in Quantity surveying, Building Economics, Civil Engineering or related courses.
- Familiar with site quality control surveillance schemes.
- Ability to interpret, understand and organise construction and buildings plans and specifications
- Exceptional numeracy & financial management skills
- Experience in Building, Civil, Structural and Architectural QC activities
- 2-3 years of general construction estimating experience, financial experience, construction experience, or related field
- A proactive person with initiative and drive, honest with a high level of integrity; a team-player with good planning skills
- Familiar with construction standards and code of practices
- Computer skills – MS Office Suite.
