Makerere University Lung Institute (MLI) Profile:
Makerere University Lung Institute (MLI) is a centre of excellence for lung health research at the Makerere University College of Health Sciences. Our mission is to conduct high-quality lung health research that integrates disease prevention, clinical care and training in Sub-Saharan Africa. MLI in collaboration with Servicio Madrileño de Salud/Fundación para la Investigación Biomédica Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre and EDCTP are conducting a clinical trial for empirical treatment of cytomegalovirus and tuberculosis among HIV-positive infants.
Job Summary:
The laboratory technicians will be responsible for performing laboratory tests requested by the clinical Team.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Take off required samples for screening of the study patients
- Take off all the required samples from the enrolled participants
- Do follow up investigations for the trial participants
- Correctly label and ensure timely delivery of the study samples to the respective Laboratories
- Account for the laboratory logistics availed
- Maintain work area and equipment
- Prepare weekly reports of the activities undertaken
- Ensure return and filling of participant results
Minimum Qualifications:
- The ideal applicant must hold a diploma in medical laboratory technology
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements & good clinical practices (gcp)
- Registration with the allied health medical professional council with a valid annual Practicing license (apl).
- Experience working in a medical research setting
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Clinical trials research experience
- Good teamworking skills
- Analytical skills
- Time management
