The Mukwano Group of Companies is the leading manufacturer of Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) in the Great Lakes region, producing a wide range of market leader brands in soaps, edible cooking oils and fats, detergents, beverages, personal care products and plastics.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Reports machine parts to specification using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers or grinders,
- Measure, examine and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers
- Set up, adjust and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools
- Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process
- Operate equipment to verify operational efficiency
- Clean and lubricate machines, tools, equipment, Health, and safety regulations while at work
- Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in the preparation of machinery work
- Performing any other duties assigned by the workshop supervisor.
Work conditions
- May be required to lift or move items that weigh up to 20 kilograms
- You may spend much of the time on your feet
- You have to adhere to safety precautions due to the high risks involved in operating electrical equipment.
Physical and Mental Effort
- A reasonable level of fitness
- Able to work under pressure
- Normal color vision
- Adaptable and tactful when dealing with different groups of people.
Minimum Qualifications:
Educational qualifications and experience
- Ordinary Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Craft II certificate in Mechanical Engineering.
- 2 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
Skills & professional attributes required
- Should possess strong general management and leadership skills
- Must possess creativity and innovative skills in managing projects, Should have good analyzing skills as well, problem-solving and ability to grasp the problem at hand
- And able to take quick steps to resolve such problems
- Ability to develop, formulate strategy and exercise good judgment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
