Infectious Diseases Institute Profile:
The Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC) is a non-profit research organization. IDRC conducts research in infectious diseases including Malaria, HIV and Tuberculosis. Our studies have led to over 300 publications and have impacted on the management of infectious diseases in Uganda. IDRC currently manages over 41 Grants with an annual budget of $11 million. IDRC was established in May 2008 by Ugandan health scientists from Makerere University College of Health Sciences, University of California, San Francisco and the Uganda Ministry of Health.
Job Summary:
The Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC) with support from Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation seeks to hire suitable candidates for the position of HOME VISITOR to conduct the IDRC SMC and CPES study. The successful candidate will be based in Nakapiripirit district.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Sensitize and mobilize the community to participate in the study
- Locate the study participants if they fail to come for scheduled appointments
- Remind participants of their scheduled appointments
- Verify the participant’s residence and report changes of residence and/ or guardianship status to senior study personnel.
- Read consent documents in local languages and interpret for the consenting clinicians and participants during the consent process if and when necessary
- Make follow-ups and bring participants to the clinic when they have missed a routine visit or are found to be ill or in need of medical attention.
- Working to ensure participant adherence to the study protocol procedures.
- May participate in counseling of participant and/ or family member.
- Maintain the motorbikes/ in good working condition and report any problems to the Study Coordinator.
Key Result Areas
- Participants attend all scheduled appointments;
- Participants adequately followed up;
- Participants adhere to the study protocol procedures
- Accurate and timely entry, tracking, and recording of information on all source documents;
- Adequate coverage of the study clinic;
- Building a Cohesive Study team;
Minimum Qualifications for IDI Uganda Jobs 2022:
- The applicant must hold an ordinary level certificate from a recognized Institution.
- At least two years of work experience in a similar setting and or performing a similar activity
- Good communication, interpersonal skills, and networking skills
- Integrity and ability to develop a productive working relationship with Community members.
- Ability to operate in a fast and diverse environment
- Ability to ride a motorbike
- Able to speak Karamojong
