IDI is an independently governed institute within the College of Health Sciences at Makerere University and has the mission “To strengthen health systems in Africa, with a strong emphasis on infectious diseases, through research and capacity development.” IDI has operations across Uganda as well as in a number of other African countries and has a staffing of over 1,000 managing multiple projects in research, clinical services, public health and training.

Job Summary:

Maximize profitability, run and analyze inventories of all assets, liaise with suppliers to obtain the best price of assets among other activities.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Maximizing profitability.
• Running and analyzing inventories of all assets.
• Liaising with suppliers to obtain the best price for assets.
• Working with asset management systems and tracking technologies.
• Ensuring financial records are up-to-date and accurate.
• Monitoring materials, workforce, tools, equipment and supplies.
• Reporting on finance and forecasting budgets.
• Working in an office and making occasional site visits.

Minimum Qualification:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Building Economics.
• At least two years’ experience as an Assistant Estate Manager in any organisation.
• Business management skills.
• Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
• Able to accept criticism and work well under pressure.
• Be flexible and open to change.
• Analytical thinking skills.
• Able to carry out basic tasks on a computer or hand-held device.
