Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) is a semi-autonomous agency under the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities. UWA was established in 1996 and is managed in accordance with the Wildlife Act Cap 200. The Mission of UWA is: “To conserve, economically develop and sustainably manage the wildlife and protected areas of Uganda in partnership with neighbouring communities and other stakeholders for the benefit of the people of Uganda and the global community.
Job Summary:
The Warden Internal Audit will ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures and other operating guidelines in line with UWA’s Mission, Strategic Plan, relevant UWA and other stakeholders.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Examine financial records of UWA so as to ensure proper recording of income and expenditure in the books of accounts as per the laid down procedures.
- Participate in the review of compliance of internal control systems in place
- Establish whether all performance targets are met with regard to revenue collection, expenditure control and Management of assets.
- Perform special investigations of systems, policies, procedures and activities as requested by management.
- Review books of accounts and accounting systems for efficiency, effectiveness and use of accepted accounting procedures to record transactions.
- Prepare and implement audit programs as laid out in the work plans.
- Performs any other official duties as assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
Minimum Qualifications
- The applicant must hold an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce or Business Administration (Accounting and/or Finance option) or its equivalent.
- Possession of Post Graduate qualifications such as CPA or ACCA is an added advantage.
- A minimum of two years of relevant working experience.
- Financial Management;
- Analytical skills
- Time management.
- Concern for quality and standards.
- Ethics, integrity and confidentiality.
