DFCU Bank Profile:
A subsidiary of dfcu Limitied, dfcu Bank is a leading banking and financial services company domiciled in Uganda. It came into existence in May 2000 following dfcu’s acquisition of Gold Trust Bank to extending universal banking services alongside the pre-existing equity finance; long term development finance; leasing and working capital finance.
dfcu Limited was started by the Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC) of the United Kingdom and the Government of Uganda through the Uganda Development Corporation (UDC) under the name of Development Finance Company of Uganda Limited. Subsequent restructuring saw International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the German Development Corporation (DEG) invest resulting in an equal stake of 25% for the shareholders. Its objective was to support long-term development projects whose financing needs and risk did not appeal to the then existing financial commercial lending institutions.
dfcu Limited was incorporated under the Laws of Uganda on the 14th of May 1964, as a Private Limited Liability Company. In 1999, dfcu acquired Uganda Leasing Company which became dfcu Leasing, to provide direct asset based finance.
On 18th March 2004, dfcu Limited went public subsequently being listed on the Uganda Securities Exchange on the 14th of October 2004.
Job Summary:
The role holder will be responsible for timely and accurate capture of customers credit information in the system in accordance with the laid down procedures as a contribution to data integrity.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Accurately input credit related customer data in the system to facilitate disbursement of loans in the system as per agreed service level agreements.
- Check for compliance with the regulatory bodies (BOU, Funders, FIA guidelines, Credit Policy etc.) prior to disbursement.
- Input credit static data accurately in the system as shall be required by business from time to time. i.e., Interest Rates, Tenors, Credit Grades, Sectors etc.
- Carry out the loan pay off, pre-pay off, rephasement process in line with business requirement.
- Accurately write off of all bad loans in line with the policy as availed by the Special Assets Management team.
- Issue leased invoices to customers as per the agreed frequency.
- Make the necessary correction of errors identified in a timely manner to prevent operational losses.
- Attend to all Credit related queries in a timely manner and provide an update to the stakeholders.
- Escalation through incidents of any process gaps that result into potential or actual operational losses to the Manager- Lending Operations and participate in the implementation of process improvements.
- Participate and contribute towards projects that are steered to improve data integrity and automation e.g., data clean up, loan origination system, etc.
- Prevent income leakages, pricing inconsistencies, fraud, and operational losses.
Qualifications
- A university Degree from a recognized Institution.
- Training in various areas of Credit Policy, IFRS, FIA, CRB, AML and KYC.
- At least one year’s banking experience in Banking Operations.
- Demonstrate a high degree of accuracy, attention to detail, quality, and deadlines.
- Good understanding of Bank procedures, of operating guidelines, policies, and regulatory AML/KYC requirements.
- The ability to engage with all the key stake holders in the organization.
- In depth understanding of the features and operations of all the Bank’s products.
- Experience in credit operations, process redesign, and, implementation.
- Attention to detail, excellent analytical skills, ability to demonstrate high degree of accuracy and meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, communications and independent judgement skills.
- High level of integrity and ethical standards.
- Ability to prioritize work.
