Job Profile:
The Kaizen Company provides Associate positions (or internships) to current university students, recent graduates, and new professionals from various academic fields to provide opportunities to apply their knowledge toward work experience. Kaizen and the Uganda Organizational Development Activity (ODA) strongly believe that internships provide on the job mentorship and training opportunities in the areas of finance, human resources, leadership, and administration with experienced ODA staff members. The Finance Associate will have a clearly defined role and scope of work and will be supervised by Finance and Administration Specialist, who will monitor the intern’s progress to ensure effective learning and a positive experience. The Finance Associate will work full-time (40 hours per week) for six months with the potential to extend for an additional six months.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Lead financial and administrative management for USAID project
- Lead compliance and procurement for USAID project
- Lead accounting (using Quickbooks Online)
- Prepare payroll, tax payments, statutory returns (PAYE, NSSF, LST)
- Prepare bank payments and disbursement vouchers
- Manage asset tracker
- Lead reporting requirements including VAT reports, monthly financial reports, government property reports
Minimum Qualifications
Necessary Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing, in roles of increasing responsibility: finance, procurement, contracts management, logistics and/or human resource related matters for international development activities of a similar dollar value ($8-10 million USD)
- Knowledge of USAID financial reporting and compliance requirements
- Experience in managing donor funded procurements and subcontracts
- Significant experience in managing administrative and HR functions
- Must be a Ugandan National
- Fluent in both spoken and written English language
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with QuickBooks
- Accuracy and attention to detail – will be tested during recruitment process
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of Ugandan tax law is a plus
- CPA certification is a plus
