Job Summary:
(S)he will lead in the implementation of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) project in Pader, Kamwenge and Adjumani Districts. They will be responsible for aligning the project with rights-based approaches at community level to ensure that communities are able to access their fundamental rights, and meet their needs, not through service delivery by external actors, but by structural changes where duty-bearers (local and district) hold themselves accountable and ensure implementation.
The project Assistant (s) will ensure strong coordination with the Partner Agencies, District Local Government, NGOS, CBOs and Local Leaders within the settlements and host communities in Kamwenge and Adjumani and post-conflict communities in Pader Districts.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- In this role the Project Assistant will be responsible for supporting project implementation, ensuring quality and results. They will;
- Lead the overall implementation of the UPR project and other advocacy initiatives;
- Lead in coordinating the implementation of the projectwith the other partner agencies, Local government and CSOs at the sub program level;
- Ensure effective project financial resources management, efficient procurement and logistical services at the sub program level;
- Support planning, monitoring and evaluation activities of the project, in articulation with the Project Manager and M& E Officer;
- Ensure all project work includes a strong gender and child protection analysis and works to promote children and women’s rights, including gender equity;
- Follow-up project activities on a daily basis, with project partners and donors, to guarantee smooth implementation of administrative and operational activities of the project;
- Also be responsible for fundraising and proposal writing for advocacy initiatives and ensure timely reporting to donors;
- Provide logistical support for workshops and other meetings as tasked by the project manager and Advocacy officer;
- Ensure that project-related internal reporting requirements are met, and that reports are of a high quality and are submitted in time;
- Maintain up-to-date files and records of project documentation;
- Represent LWF in district level platforms, working groups and to donors, UN agencies, government officials, national civil society and NGOs.
- Perform other duties reasonably assigned by the line supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications for LWF Uganda Jobs 2021
The applicant must posses A Bachelors’ Degree in Law or Human Rights with a specialty in Regional and International Human Rights Mechanisms; (S)he must have atleast two (2) years experience in human rights practice, CSO shadow reporting and access to justice programming; Experience implementing humanitarian and development programming using the rights-based approaches; experience working with the Local Government, specifically coordinating and liaising with Justice Law and Order Sectors in the District; Experience from working in complex contexts and with the vulnerable groups in the local settings;
Applicants must have be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; Excellent documentation skills; Able to ride Honda XL-125 Motorcycle and in possession of a valid riding license; Strong planning and communication skills; The ability to multi-task and work with short deadlines; Flexibility in accomplishing tasks; Ability to cope and work under pressure; Well-organized, self-motivated and able to work in a team; Effective in written and verbal communication in English; Attention to detail of project documents; Demonstrated compassion for refugees, asylum seekers, displaced people; Strategic planning abilities.
