Job Summary: 

NIRA Uganda Jobs: Receive and critically review enrollment forms and support documents for completeness, enter data electronically, capture applicants biometrics, scan support documents and conduct card issuance following due processes.

About us:

The National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) was established by the Registration of Persons Act (ROPA), 2015 and is mandated to establish and maintain the National identification Register (NIR). The Authority is also charged with. among other things, the registration of citizens and legally resident aliens; assigning National identification /Alien Identification Numbers (NINs/AINs) to qualifying persons and issuing identification Cards to those 16 years and above; registration of births, deaths and adoption orders and issuance of the relevant certrticates.

The Authority has as of 30th November 2018 registered 27.1 million persons, of whom 23.6 million have been assigned NINs. The Authority now plans a registration/and card issuance exercise at sub-county level for a period of three (3) months where a total of 3 million persons are targeted to be registered.
The exercise shall be conducted across 1,711 sub-counties, and divisions in the country and will target the following:
(i) Citizens 16 years and above who have never registered
(ii) Update of learners who were registered under the learners‘ project that have since turned 16 years and hence qualifying for a National identification Card (MD);
(iii) Leamers aged 5 to 16 years who were never registered under the learners’ project;
(iv) Rectification of errors on NlDs or replacement of lost NIDs; and
(v) Issuance of cards printed and not yet picked as of December 2018.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Minimum Qualification — Diploma
  • Experience in registration with NIRA or in other similar exercise
  • IT literacy/ computer skills is a MUST
  • Good communication and customer care skills
  • Must be a resident in the sub-county in which one is applying to work. An introduction letter from the respective Sub-county Chief is an added advantage.
  • Possession of a National ID is a MUST.

For Registration Assistants, the application, CV and support documents as above are to be delivered to the respective NIRA District/Division Offices in which the sub-county falls during official working hours.
