About the initiative:
Rising Woman Business Training 2018: Are you a woman in business seeking to take your business to the next level? Then the Rising Woman initiative is ideal for you. dfcu in partnership with Daily Monitor and Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) are carrying out several initiatives to recognize, celebrate and promote a culture of mentorship among women entrepreneurs in Uganda. To join the Rising Woman Initiative, participate in one of following activities
Monitor Publications Limited’s (MPL) flagship brand Daily Monitor in partnership with dfcu bank’s Women in Business Program and Uganda Investment Authority-UIA are carrying out an initiative dubbed Rising Woman under the theme ‘Taking your business ahead’ to recognize, celebrate and promote a culture of mentorship among women in business in Uganda.
The move is seen as a step forward in empowering women to rise and shine in business and promote a spirit of entrepreneurship. Participants in the Rising Woman initiative will have opportunities to network at 4 power talks/forums countrywide addressing issues the businesses are facing.
Power talks will host both local and regional female successful entrepreneurs to empower women in business. Uganda Investment Authority will be key in training at the power talks together with its partners.
The trainings will focus on:
- Investment licenses
- Taxes and record keeping
- Business registration
- Accessing financial support
- Winning tenders
- Getting market for your products and much more

Mentorship programs
One-year access to the dfcu Women in Business Advisory Centre located at the dfcu Towers, Plot 26 Kyadondo Road. Our team of experts will be available to give you advise on taxation, business performance, investment and marketing.
DFCU Women in Business programme
Women entrepreneurs will be given the opportunity to sign up for the dfcu Women in Business programme at no cost and will enjoy the following;

- A dedicated Relationship Manager
- Business trainings and mentorship opportunities

Investment Land opportunities in the UIA industrial parks countrywide
Following your participation in the trainings or proposal writing, you will be given first priority in any of the following UIA industrial parks;

Exposure to International Business Investors and partnerships
Depending on the sector, UIA hosts inward missions of companies from abroad and links them with Ugandan SMEs. In addition, UIA recommends SMEs for business and capacity building workshops abroad. Priority will be given to participants of the Rising Woman initiative.
Business Expo
The Rising Woman initiative will climax with a 2-day expo that will take place in Kampala. The expo will be free of charge for a select set of Rising Woman participants and at a cost for non-participants. The Expo will provide a platform for showcasing products and services as well as networking opportunities.
