Job Summary:
USAID Uganda Jobs: The Research Assistants will be field based in the 4 regions of Uganda (Central, Eastern, Western and Northern Uganda). The successful candidates will be reporting to the Field Team Supervisors.
About US:
ResilientAfrica Network (RAN) with funding from USAlD’s Center for Digital Development (CDD) is conducting a study that aims at providing a better understanding of the role that digital identification systems play in development. The study will explore the costs, socio- economic benefits and challenges of digital identification systems within Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania. It targets the investors in the Digital lD systems, secondary beneficiaries of the Digital IDs and ID holders. The study will critically look at the National ID system and the Public Service Registration System.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- To conduct Key Informant interviews, Focus Group Discussions and In-depth interviews with selected respondents from government ministries, district local governments, banks, telecom companies among other agencies
- Administer informed consent, conduct and complete interviews in accordance with the study protocol, and answer questions that the respondents may ask before or during the course of data collection
- Provide Team Leader/Supervisor with updates from the day including agencies visited, interviews completed, and any other important information about the assignment.
- Be responsible for data collection and data management processes including validation to ensure quality data
- Work with RAN and Supervisors to schedule and follow up on interviews
- Perform any other duties assigned by the team leaders
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicants for the USAID Research Assistant jobs must hold Bachelor’s degrees in humanities, public health, statistics and any other related disciplines
- Prior experience in qualitative and quantitative data collection methods
- Proficiency (both spoken and written) in English and at least one of the following languages
- (Ateso, Karamajong, Luo, Swahili, Runyankole, Rukiga, Runyoro, Rutoro, Lugisu)
- Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to spend an extended period of time in rural areas and away from home
- Ability to work under stringent deadlines and independently with minimal supervision
